Fiona is promoting Fair Trade across the North East and supporting towns and cities to bid for Fair Trade status

Fiona helped secure €1m in EU funding to promote Fairtrade as a member of the European Parliament Working Group on fair trade. She continues to campaign for better awareness of fair trade across the EU by promoting the Fairtrade Town Initiative, which has been a success in the UK with over 300 designated Fairtrade towns, including 10 in North East England. Fiona was part of the move to create Fairtrade towns in Newcastle and Morpeth, amongst others.

Fiona is a member of the Development Committee in the European Parliament. You can find out more about her work on development issues here.
